Scout
Advancement Throughout
a Scouts adventure, he will advance in rank to achieve
greater standards and to have fun. From
Tenderfoot through First Class, you will
learn the skills you use in scouting.
Cooking, camping, survival, safety,
swimming, fitness, first aid, orienteering,
nature, and scouting skills are demonstrated
in these ranks. From Star to Eagle, scouts
learn to become leaders themselves.
Boy Scout
Ranks
Scout
This rank signifies that the scout has
shown that he knows the basics of Scouting
and is ready to start his journey.
Tenderfoot A
Tenderfoot scout has shown that he knows how
to pack for a campout, has pitched a tent
that he has slept in it, has demonstrated
some first aid skills and has even done a
little cooking. At this stage the Scout has
started to build a foundation that will
strengthen with each rank.
Second Class A Second Class Scout has show how a compass
works, has used a compass to complete a
hike, knows how to be safe when using sharp
items, has attended a few more campouts, and
has demonstrated some swimming skills.
First Class A First Class Scout, this is the last rank
where a Scout has to complete
camping, survival, and first aid skills.
The Scout has built a sturdy foundation of
knowledge and is ready to lead himself the
rest of the way.
Star A Star
Scouts has demonstrate his leadership
abilities, completed service hours, and
complete 6 merit badges (4 of which are
required for Eagle).
Life
A Life
Scout has continue to demonstrate leadership
skills, completed 6 hours working on other
Scout's Eagle projects or other approved
projects, and complete 5 more merit badges
(3 of which are required for Eagle.
Eagle The
rank of Eagle Scout, at this point a Scout
has completed a total of 21 merit badges (12
of them will be required), has created a
service project that he has brought together
and made happen, and has continued to be a
valued leader in the Scouting program.
This is the
highest rank in Scouting and respected by
many in the community. This is a long
and by know means easy journey but an
accomplishment a Scout can be proud of for
the rest of their life.
Bronze Palm Once
a Scout has earn Eagle Scout he can continue
to earn merit badges and receive recognition
for them. A Bronze Palm indicates that a
Scout has completed 5 more merit badges
after completing Eagle.
Gold Palm Once a
Scout has earn a Bronze Palm he can
continue to earn merit badges and receive
recognition for them. A Gold Palm indicates
that a Scout has completed 5 more merit
badges since completing his Bronze Palm.
Silver Palm Once
a Scout has earn a Gold Palm he can continue
to earn merit badges and receive recognition
for them. A Silver Palm indicates that a
Scout has completed 5 more merit badges
since completing his Gold Palm.
